So for the past 2 weekends, I've been off gallivanting round London with lovely human friends. And because I'm more of a bedtime blogger, I've put off this post too late into the night and now I have to sleep because I'm breaking out more than a hormonal teenager.

SO! I'm just gonna show you this awesome lunch box I bought yesterday!

Also! I finally got to check out Japan Centre in Piccadilly and bought this adorable sauce container for my bento lunch!

Rainbow cake!! Well sorta.

Hi dear pumpkins and pumpkinettes *waves*

On Friday I got kinda bored so I decided to bake a cake! Not just any cake, but a rainbow cake! :D The ones where you type in "Rainbow cake" in google, you get a bunch of really professional-almost-fake-looking cakes, and the more realistic, failed cakes.

The failed photos really put me off, cause I know I'd end up like one of them. I ain't no Picasso when it comes to baking. I do the bare minimum and my patience.. deteriorates with time.  So being realistic, I decided to not do the rainbow layers, instead bake normal sponge cakes, and spread rainbow icing! So one tier would be red, orange, yellow etc :)

BUT! Being the brilliant mathematician that I am, I miscalculated the number of layers I needed, and ended up getting only 5 portions of cake mix.  Yup, I used cake mix cause baking them from scratch would probably take too long and I'd get impatient and probably screw up the presentation, like I always do.

I didn't really document the baking process because I just did it so quickly (with minimum mistakes) so I could get to the fun bit! THE ICING!

THE CAKE LAYERS

I did the cake layers one by one since I didn't wanna undercook one, or overcook another. Each "oven-time" was like 15 minutes, so it wasn't too bad.  But I wasted a lot of time getting my hand stuck in one of the drawers trying to get the baking pan out -____-" I sat on the kitchen floor grunting a lot for what felt like forever (30 minutes)

Getting the cake layers out of the pan was a bit tough since they were a weird combination of flaky and sticky :S

THE ICING

I couldn't do red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, because silly me only bought 5 tiers, which meant only 4 colours. So I decided to go with light yellow, yellow, baby pink and hot pink!  Can't you feel the oestrogen already?!

I know, I know. The white icing on the top looks gross.  Trust me, looking at it gave me diabetes.  I only used it to cover the cake because it keeps the cake from drying out.  And since the cake mix I used was from Sainsbury (and 25p a packet), I did what I had to *dramatic music*

I have no idea why the cake turned out like a baby girl's birthday cake.  Guess I thought it looked cute at that time :3 

THE NEXT MORNING! The eldest son, Oliver, woke me up and said, "you might wanna come downstairs"

Guess which little rascal took a bite out of the cake =3=  But I swear the kids in this house are super adorable, I can never get mad at them!  I went downstairs and the little 3 year old boy, William, was just holding a bowl and a fork going, "CAKE?" *heart melts*

Overall! I think this project wasn't such a failure after all! Went pretty well, didn't have to amputate my hand or burn down the house, so all is good!

Beautiful Edinburgh

Hi guys! I know I promised to blog my trip to Edinburgh a month ago, but my laptop died and I couldn't revive it so I paid around 130GBP to get it fixed :( Ugh warranty, why must you expire. And not only that! I lost everything in my laptop. All my photos, music, useful links ALL GONE. Sigh. I let my hard drive go on over drive and that's what caused the whole laptop meltdown. 

ANYWAYS! I went to Edinburgh for the vet school open day on the 29th of January.  I decided hey, since I flew to Glasgow, I'm gonna try taking the coach to Edinburgh! bad move.  Since I bought my ticket early, I got it quite cheap, so I booked the "luxury" sleeping coach.  I really should have taken my friend's advice when he said "it's not as big as it looks".  I thought it couldn't be THAT bad, plus I'm like 25% smaller the average human being so how bad can it be. 

so wrong. There was no place for me to sit up straight, all I could do was lie down. But I didn't wanna lie down, I wanted to read but I couldn't cause the ceiling was too low.  I swear, I heard so many groans and complaints from the other passengers as well.  That look of disbelief when they saw the coach for the first time.  It really felt like one hell of a ride, literally.  But I was too tired to care and I barely slept so I stayed up listening to music with a sore neck and back.

Anyways! Reached Edinburgh at 7am and since I was too cheap to book a hotel and stay a night, I decided to take the night coaches to and fro so I save on a hotel :3 So I had to wash up in the bus station's toilet :/ But to be fair! It was really clean and there was no one there because it was so early in the morning so it wasn't too embarrassing :/

I kinda felt like a hobo though :/ But oh well! Must save money!

Since I arrived at almost 7, and the Open Day was at 10 I decided to slowly make my way through town till I reached the main campus.  The weather wasn't THAT horrible, and I decided not to take a bus in case I got lost and arrived late so I decided to walk for almost an hour with my Google Map and a touristy camera.  I felt so so happy walking alone in a foreign city, I got lost and was mindlessly walking round the same streets for 30 minutes but I was so happy! It feels like one of those things you have to do before you die, and I'm glad I got lost in a beautiful city like Edinburgh :)

Everything felt so surreal, and it really felt like I was walking in a painting.  Edinburgh was so so amazing.  At that point I was going, uh-oh, how do I tell my parents I love Edinburgh more than Glasgow.  Mehh, maybe the vet school wouldn't be so great, and I'd end up choosing Glasgow instead.  

Oh how wrong I was. (you'll see why later)

Reached the main campus like an hour and a half early, so decided to seek refuge in Starbucks and do a little surfing to kill time

I was actually looking for a Nero (because they have the best hot chocolate ever), but it was kinda far off and I got a bit cold.  And unlike London, there aren't coffee shops popping up all over the place :/  But considering Edinburgh was so lovely, I can live with that :3

So at 10am, I made my way to the main campus and met up with a couple of the other Vet school applicants.  There was a minor glitch in the planning and the bus to the vet campus left without us ._. So we had some time to introduce ourselves and make friends!  I was super happy though, since I can't remember the last time I was actually friendly to strangers or actually made real friends, but these bunch of people were so nice, they made me feel so comfortable with their presence :)

Most of the people there I've met in either my RVC interview or my Glasgow interview, so we hit it off pretty well and started chatting up our experiences with interviews and work experiences etc.  Part of me felt it was cause we were all here on an Open Day and all of us have received offers from Edinburgh, so that made everyone much more relaxed and less tense :P

So the bus arrived and we took a 30 minute bus ride out of Edinburgh city to the vet campus which was around 6 miles away. 6 miles.  At that moment we were all going, crap, we'll be having to do this for the next 5 years if we choose Edinburgh.  Also the bus ride was very bumpy and nauseating.  

We went further and further out into the countryside to a point we were all like.. Wow, when they said it was far they were not kidding.  We reached the vet school and saw nothing but hills and beautiful scenery.  It was absolutely stunning! The fresh air, the cold breeze, the greenery around us was just.. breathtaking.  Then we turned to our left and BAM.

It looked amazinggggg! The campus is mainly for Veterinary related studies so everything around us were farms, stables, hospitals, research centres etc.  It was so wonderful :3 Oh! And did you know that Dolly the sheep was cloned in this very exact campus?!

Look at that viewwwww! Honestly, I really felt so calm when I was here.  The campus was so so beautiful, this picture doesn't do it justice.  I could already imagine myself spending the next 5 years of my life here :)

We got a tour around the campus but I wasn't allowed to take photos most the time so I decided to just chill out and take mental pictures instead :P 

After the tour we got dropped off back in town and me and 2 other girls decided to have dinner together!  I was really grateful I met them, or else I would have been walking round aimlessly for 5 hours till my coach leaves.

Edinburgh is by far the most beautiful city I've been to :) And that includes Bruges in Belgium!

And that concludes my Edinburgh adventure :3 My next holiday would probably be in the summer before I go back to Malaysia :) 

p/s : I was extremely comfortable on my ride back home because I got the handicap seat :3 That was seriously seriously comfortable hehe

2. People are a hell of a lot smart than you think. Shut your mouth, stop thinking you know everything, and listen.

3. Getting close and being vulnerable is scary as hell, But you know what else it is? Worth it.

4. Reason really is the doctor to love.

5. The moment you feel your happiness being dictated by another person, take a break from them.

6. Take a step back and look around, you have more friends than you think.

7. Growing up is going to happen and it’s going to be tough. Just stay close to those around you, you’re all in it together.

8. If you’re still checking their Facebook/Instagram/tumblr, you’re never going to get over them.

9. Everything seems worse in the morning. Don’t fall for it, it’s deceiving.

10. No need to be so intense all the time. People get tired of swimming in the deep end, sometimes they need a break in the shallow part of the pool.

11. Stop avoiding everything. Get out of bed, get dressed, go to school, go to work. It sucks at first but it’s part of the healing process.

12. If the person makes you feel like shit and you still go back to them, it’s an abusive relationship.

13. Headphones are great, but listen to music aloud every once in a while. Sometimes you need to scream a song so everyone can hear you.

14. Boundaries are a must.

15. You can be a caring person, but you need to be happy with yourself before you try to make others happy.

16. Try and understand other’s intentions and situation before you get angry with them.

17. Tough love is necessary sometimes.

18. You can’t fix people no matter how hard you try. Get this engrained in your mind.

So I've found this post lurking somewhere around Tumblr and it made me reconsider my philosophy in life. Because life isn't as sad or dramatic as I myself make it up to be. They're many other wonderful things to look forward to in life, I just have to get off my ass and go find my own happiness :)

Glasgow oh Glasgow

Hello my beautiful pumpkins!

So on Monday after my replacement double lesson of CHEMISTRY, went home, got ready and flew off to Glasgow! :) The flight was absolutely unpleasant. Turbulence almost all the way and when it was stable, I was asleep. Yea I know right, on an 1 hour flight -_- I admit I took a few days off too many for just a 20 minute interview for University of Glasgow :/ But hey, I wanted to explore the city a bit :) (which I ended up not doing)


Landed in Glasgow, welcomed by the rain and wind. AS USUAL. It seems like it's becoming a generic opening phrase for all my trips -_- I hope Edinburgh would be different. Went to Chai's place, ordered a Chinese takeaway and watched the very first episode of Sherlock because the weather is too crap to go anywhere else. Sherlock was exceptionally good but, NO. CANNOT. MUST. RESTRAIN.

Next morning! Went to Tesco to get food and take the chance to walk around a small part of Glasgow :)

After this my fingers got too numb to use my phone :/ But yea, went to Tesco and back, and didn't like the streets one bit :/ The pavement was dirty and filled with pot-holes, kinda like the Scottish Croydon. Buildings were dirty too and it just gave me a very dodgy feel :/ THANKFULLY! After speaking to a lot of Glaswegians, that was the more "dodgy" side of Glasgow, the ghetto of Glasgow if you like, not the whole of Glasgow is like that *sigh of relief*

Then in the afternoon, Chai went for classes and I went to a hostel to stay a night. Getting there was quite tough, especially when you're new to a city and you're dragging a luggage with you on a pavement full of potholes. Google map was my savior but I never knew some buses only ran once an hour, so I sat there in the numbing cold to what felt like eternity. This is when I started to miss London. Getting around is super convenient and you can get from one end to another easily. I admit : I am a brat when it comes to walking and traveling. Absolutely hate walking long distances in the cold :(

After Chai finished his classes, we had dinner at Wetherspoons! I think it's a traveling thing for me now, to always eat at Wetherspoons when I'm in another city :P I don't mind though! Their food is extremely reasonable priced and super delicious :)

Went back to the hostel, STUDY. STUDY. STUDY. Nervousness hasn't kicked in yet.


Next day! Final day in Glasgow and the most anticipated day - the interview. DUM DUM DUM!

Took a cab to the Veterinary campus because there wasn't any convenient buses/trains there. It was either take a train for 3 minutes and walk for another 23 minutes OR walk for 37 minutes.


CAB. NO CONSIDERATION NEEDED.


Reached the campus and it was amazinggggggg! Driving from the guard house to the reception building took about 2 minutes so I can imagine what would happen if I walked all the way here -_- Bumped into a girl from HK that I met at my RVC interview. She had her interview in the morning and said they were super friendly and barely asked her any academic questions so I thought hey! I can do friendly, I can do this.

Okay brief description. University of Glasgow has their main campus, and their Veterinary campus. Which are 4 MILES away from one another. 4 MILES. So the vet campus is quite, distant from the other campuses :/ They're like in their own secluded area, like a mini Olympic village if you like. But don't get me wrong. The place was beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. Sorry I didn't take pictures, I was too nervous to even think about it.

I'll just walk you through and you'd have to visualise it then. HAHA! As you walk from building to building, you see trees, and even more trees. In the distance you may see a little bit of a hill, and there's a river that flows through the campus itself. like what. whaaaaat! Beautiful. There were tractors and mud everywhere, all the students were wearing wellies or high boots. SUCH A VETTY FEEL ALREADY.

There was also the James Herriot library, which is named after renowned author and veterinarian Alf Wight (James Herriot is his pseudonym) who graduated from University of Glasgow as well!! ❤_❤ I bought almost all of his published veterinary journals but I didn't get the time to finish all of them yet :( He is a huge inspiration to MANY veterinarians around the world, you wouldn't believe it. AND! He did his degree HERE! Which makes Glasgow's Vet school even more prestigious than it already is

Got a tour of their whole campus basically. Was super super impressed! Most impressive part was the Weipers Equine Hospital, which is a hospital specifically for horses. UGH. It was so amazing. The insides looked like, what you'd get when you combine a high end posh horse stable with the most modern clinical equipment set-up. They even had a surgical theatre, X-ray room, and other state of the art medical scanners and devices. I have NEVER seen anything like this in my life. NEVERRR

Ding ding dong dong, time for the interview. Will not disclose the questions here but you can ask me if you like :) It was quite challenging and very very few personal questions, more ethical and academic. Which wasn't what I was expecting :( But oh well :/

After the interview, went back to the hostel to gather my stuff, ate late lunch/early dinner with Chai and flew back to London.


A bit upset I didn't get to see Glasgow city. But I was very very happy that I got a chance to finally see the vet campus with my own eyes :') Truth is, ever since I decided on the universities I wanted to go to, Glasgow was always my first choice. I would be like a crazy fan girl and Google Earth the campus, street view and all that. Heck, I even downloaded the Uni of Glasgow APP because I wanted to feel like a Glasgow student even if I hadn't even submitted my application yet lol. I was really crazy. A lot of people asked me why didn't I just check out the campus on their open day but I decided, hey, if I get an interview with them, THEN I'd go see the campus.


The interview was really a dream come true. (even though it didn't go as well as I hoped ) Thinking about it now, this time last year, I was so so worried I wouldn't even get a reply from any of the vet schools, even getting an interview with any of the vet schools would be a huge HUGE achievement for me. And few days ago, I was at my dream school, my first choice university. Words could not even begin to describe how happy I was :) I am already so so grateful to have gotten so far in my veterinary application.

Breaking in the new year with a Bath

Hello 2014! I know this year is gonna be eventful, I just know it!


2014 NEW YEAR RESOLUTION : Worry less, spend less, love more and be patient with assholes.


Couple of days back, I spent New Years Day visiting my friend Darrion in Bath, Somerset. In spite of having tons of unfinished work and chores, I decided to screw it and go for a holiday instead. (because yolo)

I was too lazy to charge my camera on New Years Eve because after I came home I was just too tired to do anything. Wanted to shower, put on my jammies, hop into bed and watch the countdown on BBC :P Well, I ended up complaining throughout my trip that I should have brought my camera because Bath was absolutely beautiful! :( And all I had was my sucky iPhone camera. It really doesn't do Bath any justice! The views were absolutely surreal and.. I'm just gonna post pictures.

First arrived at Bath welcomed by the rain and the winds. It was absolutely terrible -_- It was cold and windy and I was wearing my stupid pair of sneakers that had a hole at the bottom u_u 

Had my first meal of 2014! Fish and Chips at this place called Frankie and Benny's. I don't usually take pictures of my food but Darrion was doing it and.. and.. PEER PRESSURE D:

Still wet and rainy. I pick the BEST times to go traveling don't I.  Anyways, got to Darrion's place and had the most amazing shower ever. My first shower in Bath. eheh and it was freaking awesome!

Okay this is where I start to sound like a really deprived kid but.. UNLIMITED HOT WATER! WHOO! And the pump was super strong, I had to turn the water down because it was so strong it hurt! And and, the water was so hottttt ahhh :) At my host's, I only get to shower for a limited time before the hot water runs out, so... this was heaven to me!

After settling down and all, Darrion and I decided to order a Chinese take-away. And so happen that Yang's dorm was nearby so we all got a takeaway together and watched The Hot Chick, the movie where the girl turns into Rob Schneider. CLASSIC.

NEXT MORNING! I forced Darrion to get up early just to have breakfast :3 But first! He took me to see the lake in campus!

After breakfast, we walked around town and I followed Darrion to get a haircut. I've never been to an all gents barber before :3

Walked around and found this park. So we decided to sit on the bench and chill for a bit. Then! 2 squirrels approached us! It was a real shame we didn't have food on us D: I've never fed squirrels before and that was such a good opportunity cause the squirrels came up to us! arghhh :((

 Went back to town and we went to this place called Sally Lunn. Apparently, it's this world famous bun shop .-. So, what the heck, worth a try :)

At night, met up with Yang and Chai for Chai's pre-birthday dinner! The Japanese shop Darrion suggested was closed so we decided to seek refuge in Wagamama :3 Since the weather was starting to become crap.

AAAAND, that is all :) I would definitely love to re-visit Bath :( But I honestly cannot drop everything and leave once college begins. And bringing work on a trip is definitely a no-no for me. So.. Until next time, Bath )': Thank you Darrion for bringing me around and waking up before 12 HAHA!
